Erasure poetry is a form of poetry where words are erased from existing text, like newspaper articles or novels, to create a new poem. Using text from the Archives, explore how crossing out, highlighting and reshaping words can create unexpected stories. No experience necessary, just bring your curiosity and turn your newly formed poem into a one-of-a-kind mixed media artwork.

About the artist: Vanessa Vigneswaramoorthy is a second-generation Tamil settler writer, researcher, and artist. Her writing has been published in Porter House Review and Living Hyphen, and she has also completed projects for Heritage Toronto and the Tamil Archive Project. In her work, she is inspired by the processes of carving, dismantling, weaving, and binding.
