Poetry, paint and the female perspective: An abstract art workshop

Poetry, paint and the female perspective: An abstract art workshop

In celebration of Women’s History Month, experience a creative night where history, poetry and painting meet on the canvas. We will begin with a conversation in the exhibition Abstract Art in Canada led by Michelle Gewurtz, Supervisor of Arts and Culture at PAMA. Michelle will discuss a brief history of women in art and how, despite their presence in the exhibition, their voices have often been marginalized or remained less visible, reflecting their broader underrepresentation in art history.

Following the tour, guest poet Andrea Josic will lead you through focused writing prompts to help you channel your thoughts into verse and bring your poetry to life. Then, our Art Educator will guide you in translating those written words into visual art by using abstract painting techniques with acrylic paint on canvas.
