Creativity meets needlework in this unique form of art! Join Meltem Unal as she guides you through the creation process. You will be provided with a pre-made and punched template with a matte beige acrylic background for your project, created from one of the artist’s original designs of a vase with flowers. Basic embroidery techniques will be demonstrated and you’ll start your embroidery journey under guided instruction. This hands-on experience will allow everyone to tap into their creative potential while learning a new skill.  

No prior experience necessary. Recommended for ages 12 and up. Registration required. Public: $17.50 +HST, Members: $15 +HST 

Artist Bio: Meltem Unal's artistic journey blossomed when she arrived in Canada, adding a vibrant chapter to her already inspiring story. Hailing from Turkey, where she spent eleven years as a dedicated data analyst in the banking sector, Meltem found her true passion in creating unique embroidery pieces on painted paper. Her love for art and sewing has been a lifelong affair, but it was four years ago that she immersed herself more deeply in the world of embroidery. Fueled by the appreciation of her art, Meltem dedicates considerable time to crafting her intricate pieces and managing her flourishing Instagram and Etsy accounts. 

About Stories of Home: Stories of Home: Finding Community and Belonging in Peel is a new exhibition examining the ideas of finding home, community and belonging in Peel. PAMA partnered with Sheridan College to learn more about their own Stories of Home project, a space for sharing cherished memories and experiences about first homes, heritage and identity. The project elevates the voices of students, faculty and staff in the ESL and TESOL Plus programs. 
Many of the participants of the Sheridan College Stories of Home project found their place in Canada through art. This series of workshops is designed to give a platform for these stories.
