Wampum Workshop with Tayohseron:tye Nikki Auten

Wampum Workshop with Tayohseron:tye Nikki Auten

August 17, 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The Sewato'kwatshera't/Gidoo Naaganinaa/Dish with One Spoon wampum agreement has many teachings to share with us, if we open ourselves to learning! In this 2-hour workshop, you will learn what wampum belts are, what the Dish with One Spoon wampum belt is, as well as how to loom-bead to create a miniature version of a wampum belt. You will receive a package with everything you need, including a pattern to guide you. As you create, Tayohseron:tye will share what she has learned about relationships with each other and the land through teachings she has received about this agreement.

This workshop will be followed by a sharing circle discussion. Food will be provided.

This is a free program. Registration is required to reserve a workshop kit. Each kit can be reserved for either a single person or a pair who would like to participate together. Registrants must be at least 12 years old and those under the age of 15 must register with an adult or older attendee. Please note that the materials in this workshop require fine motor skills for tasks such as threading a needle, passing a needle through several small beads at once, and untangling thread.
