Chinese Paper Cutting Workshop 

February 9, 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.  

Embark on an intangible cultural heritage journey with Chinese paper-cutting artist Kris Yun Xie close to the Lunar New Year. Under Kris’s guidance, complete a paper-cut design of the 2025 Chinese Zodiac sign – the Snake, gaining a deeper understanding of this traditional artform. 

Adult workshop, program designed for ages 16 and up. Registration required: $15 + HST general, $12.75 + HST for members

About the Artist: Kris Yun Xie is a paper-cutting artist and member of the Shanghai Folk Artists Association. Her artwork has been displayed in exhibitions across Shanghai, Suzhou, and Milton Ontario. 

Paper cutting, originating from China, is a precious intangible cultural heritage of the Chinese nation. As a new generation Chinese paper-cut artist, Kris is dedicated to blending traditional elements with new ideas to showcase the unique charm of paper-cut art and extend the reach of this ancient Chinese culture to a global audience. 

In addition to her artistic pursuits, Kris serves as an art tutor within the Milton Chinese Community. She is the proud proprietor of "Yun's Art Studio," where she finds immense joy in nurturing and witnessing the growth of children who share her passion for drawing.
