In 2012, Ritika Kochar began using art as a form of relaxation while living in India and realized that she had found a passion previously unexplored. The vibrant colours and scenes of Madhubani art form appealed to her senses. Before she knew it, the soothing effects of making repetitive designs paired with eye-catching colours had become more of therapy than hobby. The more she learned about Madhubani and its stories, the more attractive the art form became. She hopes to share her love for this art form and its traditions with others.

About Stories of Home: Stories of Home: Finding Community and Belonging in Peel is a new exhibition examining the ideas of finding home, community and belonging in Peel. PAMA partnered with Sheridan College to learn more about their own Stories of Home project, a space for sharing cherished memories and experiences about first homes, heritage and identity. The project elevates the voices of students, faculty and staff in the ESL and TESOL Plus programs.
Many of the participants of the Sheridan College Stories of Home project found their place in Canada through art. This series of workshops is designed to give a platform for these stories.
